DePaul Art Museum, 935 W. Fullerton, Chicago, IL 60614
From February 18 to August 15, 2021, Claudia Peña Salinas’ Quetzalli fills DePaul Art Museum’s Fullerton Avenue front window. Salina’s installation depicts the Penacho de Moctezuma - the Aztec ruler’s regal headdress made of 500 quetzal tail feathers. The penacho was taken from Tenochtitlan and is today in Vienna, Austria. The Mexican government has consistently sought the return of the penacho to Mexico.
